Police investigate deadly shooting in parking lot in Antioch

NASHVILLEM, TN (WSMV) – The Metro Police Department believes a deadly shooting in the Antioch section of Nashville on Friday morning was “drug-related.”

Police said Pierre Burns Jr., of Lavergne, met up with an unidentified 23-year-old Alabama man in the Walmart parking lot, which is located in the 3000 block of Hamilton Church Road, around 11:30 a.m.

Police said the meeting was “part of a prearranged meeting.” During the incident, police said Burns entered the man’s car.

However, Burns told police that the victim “put a gun to his head” in a robbery attempt. A struggle ensued and Burns, who was also armed, told police that he shot the other man.

Following the shooting, police said Burns threw a satchel from his car into a bush. Police located the satchel, which contained marijuana and numerous pills.

Investigators recovered two semi-automatic pistols at the scene.

Burns was arrested on drug, gun and evidence tampering charges.

The deadly shooting and Burns’ claim of self-defense remain under investigation by the Homicide Unit.
