The 1st annual Irreverent Warriors Silkies Hike-Nashville will be on the 10th of August 2019, starting at the Andrew Jackson VFW Post 1291 in Nashville, TN. The hike will bring veterans together using humor and camaraderie to prevent veteran suicide and reduce the effects of PTSD.
The Vision of Irreverent Warriors is Irreverent Warriors will be the force that unites the Veteran community and drives a healthy culture within its members. Through creative engagements, events, and strong Veteran-based support networks, we will be known as the catalyst for improving the Veteran outlook. We will be the most effective Veteran community in the United States.
Culture In 2013, the United States Department of Veterans Affairs released a study that covered suicides from 1999 to 2010, which showed that roughly 22 veterans were dying by suicide per day, or one every 65 minutes. Irreverent Warriors are the men and women who have been prepared to kill and die for our country. Irreverent Warriors knows that the best support network for veterans, is other veterans. They bring a community of warriors together through therapeutic events across the country. They also partner with veteran organizations who provide services such as job placement, training, housing, service dogs and more.

Objectives of the Event This important event aims to achieve the following specific objectives:
• To engage Veterans in a unwavering Network; • To Collaborate and build/strengthen the Veteran community;
• To promote the resources available in the community and their organizations;
• To bring together Veterans, Active Duty, and organizations with the similar interest of Irreverent Warriors Mission/Vision Event Coordination
• Volunteers and Vendors will begin setup at 7:30 am.
• Hikers will begin to be shuttled to the meetup at 8:00 am.
• Registration will be from 8:00 am – 9:00 am.
• Vendor time will be from 9:00 am – 10:00 am.
• We will begin the hike at promptly at 10:00 am.
There are multiple stops along the hike. The hike route is available upon request.
